5 K-Drama Couples We Never Thought We Needed This Year

As we’re inching to the end of 2021, K-drama land has given us a lot of new on-screen pairings that gave us intense kilig moments, heartbreaking scenes, and whirlwind emotions. The best part is, our love for our Oppas has grown stronger.

While we don't want to admit it, we really are suckers for a good love story. Whether it's the classic 'they hate each other but secretly love each other' story or the 'will they get together before [spoiler]' plot, the K-drama world has provided us with many great couples to root for. Then there are those couples we didn't see coming, such as these five from this year.

1. Kim Seon-Ho and Shin Min-Ah in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.”

Considered by K-Drama fans as a “healing show.” In the series, not only are we introduced to their world, but Hong Du-Sik (Seon-Ho) and Yoon Hye-Jin’s (Min-Ah) chemistry on screen made us feel that love is more than just status and achievements. And who doesn’t like seeing this “dimple couple”? I mean.

2. Song Kang and Han So-Hee in “Nevertheless”

This K-drama couple is one for the books. Both characters are memorable and relatable, like Na-Bi’s (So-hee) fragile personality and Jae-Eon’s (Song Kang) "red flag" traits that we can't help but root for.

3. Lee Do-Hyun and Go Min-Si in “Youth of May”

From being siblings in “Sweet Home,” these two young stars have gone on to be paired up in period drama, "Youth of May." The story is set during the Gwangju Uprising of 1980. Despite their vastly different backgrounds during a complicated time, Hwang Hee-Tae (Do-Hyun) and Myeong-Hee Kim (Go Min-si) found solace in each other's presence.

4. Kim Go-Eun and Ahn Bo-Hyun in “Yumi’s Cells”

Webtoon-turned-K-Drama "Yumi's Cells," introduced us to the ordinary office worker Yumi (Go-Eun) and the straightforward game developer, Woong (Bo-Hyun). The two meet and fall in love, giving us lighthearted giggles along the way. As viewers, we can’t help but notice their perfect chemistry!

5. Song Joong-Ki and Jeon Yeo-Bin in “Vincenzo”

And the most-loved K-Drama couple of 2021 is Joong-Ki and Jeon Yeo-Bin in the hit series “Vincenzo”! #SanaAll is an understatement for this couple, with their excellent chemistry and well-matched appearances as Vincenzo Cassano (Joong-Ki) and Hong Cha-Young (Yeo-Bin). We can’t help but ship them in real life!

Can’t wait for new K-drama on-screen couples to make our hearts beat faster this 2022!
