Lightning Strikes: But LITZ's Thunder Roars on the Center Stage

Freshly debuted and new to the scene, LITZ is the ultimate rookie girl group you wouldn't want to miss out on. Short for 'Life in the Sunshine,' the girl group is made up of Bianca, Ashtine, Heart, and Fatima. With an eye for glamor and voices full of power, the quartet first released a rendition of James Reid's Natataranta and later debuted with the electrifying Kidlat. Both singles have caught the glimmer of their fans, Glitz, out there.

We caught up with the few months old rookies and asked how the rollercoaster ride of being a P-Pop idol group has been. The girls have found the experience incredibly fun to showcase their talents, charm, and personality to the world. Bianca exclaims, “Overwhelming lang din talaga ‘yung natatanggap namin na suporta from Glitz, from the fans, and masayang masaya kami na, eto na, simula na, and magpapatuloy pa kami.”

["It's overwhelming to receive so much support from Glitz, from the fans, and we're really happy that we're here, it's here, and we're carrying on."]

Though LITZ has had performances here and there, nothing compares to being on the centerstage in front of a live audience. So, how are they going to fare for Tugatog? According to Fatima, “Nag-rehearse na kami, and ang plano lang talaga namin is ipakita lang talaga ang talent, ‘yung kakayahan, ‘yung music na meron kami. And we really think na once na they [new fans] see us perform live, ma-aappreciate nila because binubuhos namin ‘yung puso namin sa lahat ng training at ibubuhos namin ang lahat ng makakaya namin sa live performance namin.”

["We've already rehearsed, and our plan is to just show our talents, our abilities, the music that we have. And we really think that once they [new fans] see us perform live, they'll appreciate it because we poured our hearts into our training, and we'll pour all our abilities into the live performance."]

Those are bold words for rookies. But then again… Just because they're rookies doesn't mean they can't dream big and make waves. Through Kidlat alone, we saw what LITZ could do. Now, we're here to anticipate what they'll do next.

As Heart says it, "As we call ourselves Life in the Sunshine—as LITZ, we hope we could be one of your rays of sunshine in your life. Lahat po ng songs namin is not only towards women but also other gender types. We hope that our songs can bring out your true selves, your true forms. And [help you] be confident!"

With a long road ahead of them, we can't wait for what LITZ has in-store. Is it a little more girl crush flavor? Some collabs with P-Pop groups? More empowering messages? An album in the mix? Or maybe, even a future concert? For now, their focus is on Tugatog. As told by Heart, "I think it's very empowering for us as we come together as OPM, and we introduce OPM to not only the Philippines, [but to] the world that this is who we are, and this is our music."
