“Good things come to those who wait.” If there’s anyone who knows this by heart, it’s Francis Escandor, who redefined the art of 'saving the best for last.'
Who could have predicted that the once-small, chubby kid from Davao with dreams of playing in Manila and pursuing a professional basketball career would make headlines for his unwavering confidence? From a benchwarmer last season to this year's standout player, Francis credits his transformation to his steadfast belief that hard work pays off.
"I just continued to work hard and continued to believe in myself. I knew that one day all of it would pay off, and eventually God heard my prayers," asserts the 6'2 wingman. True enough, the graduating Green Archer stepped up big time after being given a shot at court time.
What truly distinguishes Francis as a #PARCINQSuperFresh member is his aspiration. He expresses, "I want to be recognized as someone who works hard not just for myself but for the people around me."
A genuine team player, Francis is grateful and blessed for the nicknames he earned this season. While being called the "Unlikely hero," "Switch-flipper," or "X-factor" provides an extra confidence boost, he places utmost value on teamwork and finding ways to contribute, emphasizing that team results always matter in the end.
As UAAP Season 86 comes to an end for him and uncertainty looms regarding his direction in Season 87 with one year of eligibility left, one thing remains certain—this isn't the last time you'll see him on the court. Francis is eager to continue playing the game, and he's not stopping anytime soon.
