Slate Medical Group Takes a Stand Against Obesity with the Inaugural Slate Obesity Awareness Day

In honor of World Obesity Day, the Slate Medical Group hosted its first-ever Slate Obesity Awareness Day on March 23. The event took place at Slate Medical Clinic Centuria Branch, and such a significant occasion was not overlooked by PARCINQ Magazine. If you missed the event, here’s a rundown of what happened!

Assess for a Fitter You

The first step to wellness involved us undergoing a weight assessment spearheaded by the mastermind behind the initiative, Doc Maika. A series of tests was conducted to discover if we are in the healthier range or if we fall under the following obesity classifications: pre-obese, obese, or severely obese.

We were surprised to learn that there are health conditions we may not have considered before. By taking an assessment, we can gain insight into important factors such as visceral fat levels and body age. These concerns are worth paying attention to for the sake of our overall health and well-being.

Doc Maika underscored the advantages of undergoing routine health screenings for obesity. She cited that such action not only helps in detecting early signs of underlying conditions but also encourages a proactive approach regarding one’s holistic wellness.

“Health screenings can also identify risk factors for obesity, such as family history, poor diet, and lack of physical activity, which can help people take preventive measures. Routine screenings can provide valuable information about a person's overall health status and help healthcare providers develop personalized treatment plans for managing obesity.”

Discover the Power of a Healthier You

It was a half-day dedicated to raising awareness about the obesity epidemic and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and communities. The six-hour event provided fruitful conversations and active awareness about a major public health concern worldwide. It’s high time that we talk more about it and engage ourselves in preventive health check-ups.

Stressing more on the significance of programs like this, Doc Maika shared that education about obesity awareness improves public health outcomes.

“By teaching people about healthy eating habits, physical activity, and weight management, they can make informed choices about their lifestyle and avoid becoming overweight or obese.”

Participating in initiatives like this really does wonders for our health management with the early interventions that it promises. “Early intervention is critical for managing obesity, and educating people about the signs and symptoms can help them seek medical attention and take action before it becomes a more significant problem,” expresses Doc Maika.

In addition to the benefits, the routine health screening for obesity provided us with a truly eye-opening experience that will stay with us for years to come. It encouraged us to take a closer look at our health and overall well-being, inspiring us to make positive changes and prioritize self-care.

Goal-Driven Healthcare for a Better You

Being a force in the medical community, Slate feels responsible to educate the public about the dangers of obesity and to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Offering surgical, non-surgical, and pharmacologic options for weight loss and body contouring, the medical group ensures that they align with their mission and goals as a healthcare provider. Keeping this in mind, along with the company’s values, Slate Obesity Awareness Day was brought to life.

Prioritizing a holistic approach to healthcare, Slate discusses treatment plans and long-term goals with their patients, while taking into consideration the individual's physical, emotional, and mental well-being, as well as their social and environmental factors.

“We believe that a person's health and well-being are influenced by various factors, including their lifestyle choices, genetics, and environmental factors. Therefore, we aim to provide personalized care that considers all aspects of the individual, to promote optimal health outcomes and improve their quality of life.”

Slate Medical Group’s setups on free body fat analysis, free nutrition consultation, and free doctor consultation regarding weight loss programs made it possible to raise awareness and reach a wider audience.

To encourage ongoing cognizance and monitoring of obesity beyond the clinic, obesity kits, and other freebies were also distributed to support continuous self-care.
