Have you seen the Japanese ‘green flag’ guy on TikTok? Or, let’s say, the new anime-like character in town? Well, let me introduce you to the budding model and content creator Rio Mizu, who earned the #PARCINQSuperFresh stamp of approval for all the right reasons.
Rio, often likened to Sanji from One Piece by his friends for his kind and gentlemanly demeanor, is more than just a perfect 10. His delightful character, combined with the way he confidently poses for the camera, is truly charming.
But did you know that he's on track to become an idol after winning the "Who is the most good-looking university student in Japan" pageant? However, fate eventually brought him to Cebu to initially learn English, where he ended up falling in love with the Philippines.
From having no connections to securing gigs and gaining viral attention, Rio believes he has come a long way. And for someone who's just setting his footing in the industry, Rio sees working for PARCINQ’s Anniversary Issue as a milestone achieved by only a few.
Much like his 'green flag' streetok interview, which took him by surprise with its unexpected popularity, Rio is bound to show more of his loveable traits soon. Keep an eye on this promising model, as 2023 just marks the beginning of the exciting things that lie ahead.
In this #PARCINQSuperFresh feature, Rio reflects on his journey and plans for the future.
Q. Can you share a bit about your modeling journey?
Rio: It was here I fell in love with the country, wanted to stay, and started seeking modeling opportunities. People told me to go to Manila if you really want your foot in the door. I came here and the rest was history.
Q. What does 'fresh' mean to you, and how do you consistently strive to stay at the top of your game?
Rio: Fresh means being happy. I constantly stay on top of my game by smiling a lot, cheering the people around me up, and enjoying my life by making a lot of friends, especially here in the Philippines.
Q. Did you ever expect your video to become so popular and introduce you to many people? How did you feel when it went viral, and people began following you on social media? Did it open up new opportunities for you?
Rio: No, I did not expect my video to become so popular. I was like "OMG, what happened to this?" I was so happy that many people got to know about me. For sure, I will entertain them from now on. Yes! It did open more opportunities and I hope I will work with more people!
Q. Are there any plans for you to enter the Philippine entertainment scene in the near future as a model-actor perhaps?
Rio: I want to try everything so I'm open to it. I have already been in a drama and a movie.
Q. What's the best part of being a model? Can you share some interesting experiences that you've had, ones that you might not have known or experienced if you hadn't pursued a career in modeling?
Rio: The best part of being a model is I can be other people. When I see my photos, I'm like "Oh who is this?"
Q. Where do you see yourself in 2024? Are there any new or existing goals or dreams you would want to pursue/achieve next year?
Rio: I want to be the most famous, popular, cute, handsome, Japanese guy in the Philippines.
